doesn’t get better than home, now does it?

9 Sep

today i’m coming home.

for the past three weeks i’ve been overseas working out of our london office, which has been a seriously incredible, rewarding, challenging, and exciting opportunity. i’ll spare you the remainder of the thousand other positive adjectives i could attribute to the experience. in short, i’m a lucky girl. i got to see new places, meet new people, and feel a whole other level of independence and adultness.

that being said, i’m really looking forward to walking through the front door of our lakeview apartment, hugging the man i last hugged three weeks ago, and spending an entire weekend catching up with those i’ve been missing.

as much as i love travel and my career, i love home. i spent some time pondering whether it made me less independent to be so excited to come home. was i less on my own than i thought? was i dependent on the support of those in my life?

the answer is no. it means that i love the people i choose to have in my life. that my friends are my family. that i’m missing the boy for good reason. it means that the place i’ve built for myself, my home, is exactly what i need it to be.
